Rose Quartz
Rose quartz is often called the ‘love stone’. The coloring material varies of hues of pink to blood-red color is distinctive and unique.
Rose quartz acquires its name from the flower because of its semitransparent and soft pink color stimulated by traces of iron, manganese and titanium. In general, rose quartz comes in very large shape and hence it doesn’t take shape as crystals.
Naturally, rose quartz can be found in Madagascar, India, Germany and several areas in America. In US, a great deal of rose quartz was condensed from a famous site near Custer, South Dakota. Now, most of the world’s supply comes from Brazil. Rose quartz has become the most valued varieties of quartz.
Not until recently, experts and jewelers don’t completely understood where the color of rose quartz came from. Before, it was assumed to be due to a different amount of minor impurities present in the rose quartz, including titanium, manganese and even colloidal gold. Recent researches using micro-analytical techniques have found out that the rose quartz color is actually referring to microscopic mineral fibers in the rose quartz. X-ray diffraction investigation on the fibers yielded figures similar to the mineral dumortierite. The uncommon crystalline of rose quartz owe their coloration to aluminum and phosphorous contamination. Their pink color is photosensitive and can fade in sunlight.
Rose quartz oftentimes associated with forgiveness and compassion. For centuries, it was believed to have the ability of producing a wonderful calming influence. Rose quartz helps to remove anger, hatred and negative influences such as jealousy and avarice. For human metabolism, it is said to assist the spleen, kidneys and circulation system. Rose quartz also eases sexual and emotional imbalance and can also improve fertility.
